Never going beyond the narrative or safety of an After-School-Special, Surviving Theatre 9 keeps it too bland, too comfy and too cliche. There were some incredible opportunities with this film to really tell a story and to tell it from a dark, uncomfortable but necessary place. We come away from this short scratching our heads still not really understanding the stakes involved in our heroes' journey to heal.
