I started watching this last night. It is important to know that Roman Empire was long gone by the time this conflict started,and yet, disappointingly enough none of the scholars seem to know that. To set the record straight it was the Byzantine Empire that fought Ottomans not the Roman Empire. The main difference between the two is that Romans were catholic and Byzantines orthodox Christians.
