Disappointing. Apart from a new less intimate court room, a colorful choir girl robe for Judge Judy, replacing the traditional black one, the nepotistic insertion of granddaughter Sarah Rose as law clerk, the questionable addition of a court reporter (can anyone show me the way to a court room in the real world where the law clerk and the court stenographer sit level with the Judge to the left and right?) and the, reportedly rude passing over of Byrd in favor of Ms. Sheindlin’s body guard as bailiff, there is nothing new here. Worse, the case selection so far at least (with the possible exception - spoiler alert – of a younger but wiser college student sister opting to raise the Illegitimate daughter of her older clueless sister) case selection has been tepid at best. Worse yet, the socially distanced staging of spectators seems artificial and Judge Judy’s post trial debriefing in chambers with granddaughter Sarah is both trivial and, even by Judge Judy’s standards, condescending to both litigants and audience. This long time viewer would post zero stars if available.
