Hi, I'm wondering if nintendo and animal crossing are going to change the one island per console rule? Or if they are at least considering it. I've been a fan of the Animal Crossing series for a long time and as soon as the switch came out my first thought was about the next animal crossing. I still have the gamecube in my living room.
When it came out I spent 275 on the switch and 60 on the game. Over 300 dollars even though I only work in retail because I was so excited.
I understand that the main reason this is all being done isnt to be greedy, though it certainly feels that way to most people. As a long time player of the game, I know its because they dont want cheating. They don't want time travel and they want people to play together as a cooperative experience.
But you cant force that. You cant force the family-oriented experience the game advertises. You can only put that out into the world and know that there are people who play that way and appreciate the game that way. And there are other people who play alone and use it as a way to escape from the world. As someone who comes from an abusive family, animal crossing was my way to escape from my family. Not exactly how the game was meant to be played I know, but that's not a bad thing. It was still a wholesome community-oriented, creative experience. And for others, it's about world building. In fact, that's what new horizons kind of centers around. Its marketed more than ever towards players who enjoy personalization, the same players its hurting by forcing one island per console. It kind of backfires.
I've got a new family of two now, me and my husband. I love him and enjoy watching him play and experience the game and love it just like I do. It makes me happy, but it also makes me sad. I'm missing out on so much. I dont mind being a player two in someone else's world on the side, but I would really like my own main island. Please fix this nintendo :/
