The build up was decent. But the ending was disappointing.
The demon had very little back story, very little character. Defeating the demon was too easy- there were no rites. Just a nod to each other and then a touch on the haunted relic and poof goes the demon. Oh and the spinning mirror was just embarrassing to watch.
Should people go watch it in cinemas? If they are curious and impatient then they should. It can be a good way to spend time with friends and family. Otherwise they should wait until it comes out on streaming platforms and watch it on their own devices. Will it disappoint? I do think so. I personally like “the devil made me do it” more.
I will say the movie has more emotional weight to it than the previous conjuring movies. It felt like it humanised the warrens a lot more. Maybe that was the intention. For audiences to see the warrens truly happy after all they have been through.
Trigger warning: the movie may be triggering to those who have lost a child by stillbirth or a loved one by self-harm.
