I read this book in high school. I am so glad that I did, because I did not have to be influenced by the film that came out years later. I felt the book was far more superior to the film. Although the film showcased the superb talents of Angela Bassett, Laurence Fishburne, Vanessa Bell Calloway, and Jenifer Lewis, among others, I still did not feel the film captured the full essence that the book was able to illustrate to me. I understand that films essentially take creative license, for me the film took too many liberties with Tina's full story. I am glad that as a teenager I was able to read the book because it really opened my imagination and helped to see what Tina saw in her life. She truly had a very difficult and heart-breaking life, but it made me see HER and appreciate her talent that much more. I absolutely recommend this book to anyone who wants to read about the life, loves, and talent of one of the greatest entertainers that has ever lived.

I laughed because this movie was SO SO Bad!!! I actually read the subtitles and laughed in parts where I suppose I shouldn't have. I had to entertain myself because the plot and writing were the worst. I wanted to slap the female heroine in this movie myself because she was so stupid. I only slightly cheered when she slapped Mossimo towards the beginning when he first kidnapped her, but than was in total disbelief when she finally submitted to the jerk and told him she loved him and that it wouldn't take 365 days to fall for him. WHAT?!! That doesn't make any sense!!! Some women might be enamored with the male lead in this farce of a movie but I couldn't care less about this misogynistic creep. He is COMPLETELY unlikeable, uncaring, violent, and the sex scenes were disgusting. Instead of being turned on, I was completely turned off. I have seen much better erotica in old shows like the RED SHOE DIARIES. I would like to see a remake of that show over this dribble. The writers, directors, actors, and producers should be ashamed of themselves for making this nonsense and unleashing it like a literal bomb on the rest of us. Not even being in stay-at-home captivity will make me like this let alone recommend it to anyone else. Save 2 hours or so and NOT watch this trash!

I was actually pleasantly surprised. I often choose to watch foreign language TV shows because they offer a different perspective and view from that of America, so this show definitely kept me watching. I had already predicted some of the ending, but not to the degree in which it played out. I absolutely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a show that will entertain as well as intrigue you. I do not agree with some who have watched because they feel this show gives them a viewpoint that is "ideal" to their racial politics, no matter which side they are on. Watch the show to enjoy, don't interject it with racial propaganda. I watched it because it was fun and I like suspense.
