Kate Chopin is definitely an artist in her own right. In "The Story of an Hour," Chopin brings to light a certain realization of the main character losing her husband and gaining her freedom, all within an hour, only to find out that her desire to be free is thwarted by the realization that she is not, in fact, free when she realizes that her husband had not died. It takes the untimely abrupt death of the main character to actually become free and achieve freedom from her life.
