Without the Mods and CC it's no point of even playing. The updates unless for fixing a glitch are just a waste the game is so buggy and glitchy. A full game update definitely needed. Highly upset with not being able to play smoothly specially with all the money you have to invest just for basic content. Then when they update and mess up the CC and mods you can't even play. Highly disappointed I heard Sims 3 was better.
