Reading the books, watching the Chinese TV adaptation and this one make a more complete picture. But the Netflix series takes many liberties and story changes either to hit their 8 episode time table or to be cute. Worth a watch but you should consume all three, visually it’s better than the Chinese adaptation but the writing is better in the book and the Chinese adaptation.
