Well I didn't have high hopes but put a few on. I was surprised. The choosing of a band of misfits rather than a gang of dwarves initially put me of and I thought it was going to be overly P.C and lame.... But the cast does grow on you and it does entertain, plus the show does use dwarf actors later on. Don't expect this to be like the movie because theatrically it isn't. It borrows the plot of the movie but takes a different approach. The movie had a dark scope to it and this is considerably more lighthearted and character interactive. For a reboot into a full series? There's a lot worse out there than this. It's not an insult to genius of the movie... but had that generic template you see in a lot of modern shows. For that it loses a star.

Deserving of 5 stars. It weaves the nostalgia of the original series, has a light humour, a good balance of drama and the cast is likeable. The show has a feelgood factor sorely missed in non animated trek offerings and the narrative is just the icing on the cake. A triumph.
