In comparison to its earlier counterpart “the haunting of hill house” I found this to be completely predictable, dry, bland, and poorly written and acted. I think the semi “American horror story” style they chose to go in with recycling actors felt misplaced because only three or four of the cast returned and it just felt very strange. It was not in the least bit scary, it wasn’t anywhere near as deep or meta and honestly as a stand alone I probably could have enjoyed it, but when put on the same shelf as hill house I found it utterly disappointing and boring.
