I'm with the small group of people who were disappointed.
Just hearing the awesome theme music again got me excited about diving into the intrigue and the pace and the tension of the original series. Instead it was mostly about tying up loose ends, and generating as many happy endings as possible.
I realize that a two-hour movie doesn't have the luxury of time you get in a full season, but I would have preferred to see fewer storylines -- delivered more deliberately.
It felt like there was a single bad guy -- Hearst -- who everybody bonded together to fight against. The original Deadwood had a much more evolved, complex and engaging view of humanity.
Oh, well. Better than nothing.
