The pacing is terrible, we don't get enough time with the characters to honestly care about them so their deaths aren't impactful, the script tries to be funny at the wrong times when it seems like the director wanted the movie to be taken seriously. It seems like this movie has no comment on anything when it had so many opportunities to involve issues with maternity, childhood trauma, etc.
The only thing I liked about the movie was the peephole horror that we got through the door, and how they tried to include more references to the book. The special effects were good.
