We just watched this and have to say I had no idea what to expect beforehand. I think this is an extremely well crafted tale that highlights the path of a psychopaths mental degradation over time. The theme of good vs evil is very prominent throughout and this can’t be avoided so I think the director does a great job of getting the audience to question what exactly evil is when compared with absolute depravity. The house is maybe a methapor to indicate that even though he’s going through a serious mental breakdown, normal fantasies of a normal life remained in his sub-conscious, although evil resides in Jack it is not all-encompassing. Thoroughly enjoyed this throughout, I laughed, I was shocked, I couldn’t watch at parts and the way in which thins story was told kept me glued throughout the 2.5 hours. Highly recommended.
