I fell in love with this show at the first episode. It was entertaining and gave us characters with depth and meaningful relationships. It was entertaining. I loved Max's wife who gave him balance but also was willing to sacrifice for the relationship. I almost stopped watching when she died.....alone because he was off trying to find out about Helen.. I got over that and continued to watch. I was invested in the story and the players. Then it became someone's (writers) platform to push their personal agendas across the storyline in our faces. I like to be entertained. Well written characters, storylines that include the relationships and how he was making change on the front lines with the patients and his relationships with his staff. It could be very funny and very sad. The struggle with raising a new baby, and running the hospital. But having to sit through controversial subjects being dictated through the storylines each week drove me away. I didn't watch for over a season and several others I know did the same. It wasn't entertainment it was an agenda. The characters became shallow and secondary to the story. I checked in just recently out of curiosity and I missed what I used to enjoy before the political agenda took over. I was pleasantly surprised. The whole debacle of he and Helen, the move to London and the craziness that ensued when Max campaigned to get his position back to save the hospital was over....relief and it became the show I fell in love with again. I was entertained and felt good after I watched the new episodes and looked forward to the next. But I guess it was too late to rescue. The ending was very unexpected but done nicely without knowing what was going on until the end. Too bad....
