Impressive. Although it seems like NO ONE WINS & humanity finally falls to the dismay of this viewer. The HUMAN spirit is diverse and tested. What will YOU do when faced with oblivion? I'd like to think that WE as a human race in this universe will endure. WE will add our light to the light coming from the stars. WE would become part of the fabric of the universe & leave our mark upon its tapestry. Who knows what awaits US, in the future. Our destiny is unwritten at any case. Will WE be the one's to help shape this universe or merely whined up as a FOOTNOTE? How we deal with either is truly the test of species. There are no definitive answers for US in the film. Did the little girl exist or was it the Dr's imagination? Did anyone else survive on earth as the Dr did? Do some pockets of HUMANITY still exist on the earth? Do the TWO ASTRONAUTS make it to K² & live out their lives with their baby? Finally does HUMANITY survive there, in some fashion? I don't imagine that these questions will be fully answered. Yet, they do provoke a lot of thoughts and ideas to this viewer. I think MANY OF US should have a look at this film several times. I think each of US will walk away with more than they expected & perhaps more than they'd wish to learn about themselves. Thank you.
