This is the most amazing show I've seen in a long while, and certainly the fastest one that hooked me in right from the get-go. Themes of friendship and sisterhood in a backdrop of comprehensive world-building and intrigue that will keep you wanting? This is it. Each character is well-written and serves a purpose; they each have their own plotlines alongside the overarching thread that weaves them together.
Cinematography is great, and more than that, the actors skillfully bring forth the characters' emotions in a way not often seen in YA shows. There's also diversity - diverse women of colour with their own strengths and motivations.
And then there's the LGBTQ storyline, which is tackled in such a refreshing way. The two characters of the pair have their own things to deal with and have their own stories separate from the ship. And no one makes a big deal of their sexuality because, like mentioned by one of the actresses, "queer" is not a concept in a society where there is no established heteronorm.
This is such an amazing show and it deserves more seasons, as well as more attention. It has the potential to be groundbreaking. Honestly, it already is.
