I found this book fell short in making the characters feel believable, especially when compared to others in the genre that I loved. The pacing felt dragged out, and by the time I reached the ending, my excitement stemmed more from the relief of finishing it than from any resolution in the story. A trigger warning would have been appropriate, as the narrative takes a surprisingly dark turn midway through. The writing style and dialogue seemed geared toward a younger audience, perhaps teenagers, with language and conversations that felt immature and unrealistic. Overall, this detracted significantly from my enjoyment.
