Keeping in mind that I have 2 daughters and keep an eye on the things they watch, I also went to school learning character design and animation, among other things.
The story is typical for "girls" cartoons, it isn't something I would take seriously in context. Many of the girls, good and bad are a princess of some kind, they have a ball together, the line between enemy and just being a jerk is the same.
Teenage issues are forced down your neck as more important than protecting the kingdom. It feels like high school and not a "war" like it is supposed to be.
It is content like this that prevents young girls from having a meaningful role model or female characters Being able to be taken seriously.
