I'm still holding out hope that someday Disney will release a decent Star Wars book, but this is not it. The biggest issue is that we don't actually get any answers about whatever the monsters are that can turn Jedi to ash, or why Marchion Ro has a grudge against the Jedi. Nee characters are also introduced just to be killed off so the stakes feel artificially higher, or to get a character arc so the book has the illusion of progress. Disney's continued refusal to actually have a major battle also doesn't help. Unless Phase 3 of this High Republic project is unbelievable, I'm about ready to call these books a wash.
