Remember that time in college when it dawned on you that a paper you'd written semesters ago, for another class, could easily be re-purposed for a current assignment? With a few alterations - an update here, a changed word there - you could submit a very solid performance with minimal effort. That's EXACTLY what this special is.

Ellen's heart is in the right place but that doesn't deliver laughs. "Relatable" is only relatable if you enjoy lukewarm, decades-old bits and butter knife sharp observations. I roared with laughter during Ricky Gervais's "Humanity" and Sarah Silverman's "Speck of dust". By contrast, I laughed out loud exactly one time during "Relatable".
