I was looking forward to this movie, despite all the hype. First, I was disappointed in Kidman's performance. It seemed rather "one note" with little emotional depth. Wooden. Second, It seems Kidman had more screen time than Javier Bardem. Like this was a star vehicle for her. Third, I am a big fan of Bardem, but his Desi character was not given enough time on screen. Fourth, I failed to see chemistry between Desi and Lucy, the characters, and between Kidman and Bardem, the actors. The film had an odd tone, driven, yet soulless.
