I love many of King’s books except the fantasy ones. This one is one liberal rant after another and they’re not even “good” rants one would expect from a writer. It calls to mind my children at 2 years old throwing a tantrum in the candy aisle at the grocery store. Is the story interesting? I’ll never find out because of the wall of venom and cliches surrounding the book like an ancient walled city. Maybe King has dementia or something. Seriously, this book isn’t like his classics. It’s like a liberal pinko King that melted his God given talents into an ashtray.

The book started out fine I guess, kind of reminiscent of a Stephen King’s IT or a Stand by Me fraternity of troubled loser kids against the world type setup. The evil comes, is discovered, confronted… blah blah blah, we’ve seen the plot many times in other books. The book rolls on and on ad naseum until a final confrontation, blah blah blah…. Skywalker defeats Vader, Indie defeats the Nazis, blah blah blah… I can’t believe this formulaic cliche was written by the same guy who wrote Carion Comfort (masterpiece) or The Terror (masterpiece). Did Dan have a bad trip to Vegas and owe some bad people a good amount of money? Have to crank something out real fast? (Hey, that’d be a good book right there!) Was it written by AI? (Hey, that’d be a good book right there!). Am I being repetitive? So is the dumb book! 😭
