My analysis & views: Yoon Hyeon-Wu worked for Soonyang (SY) Conglomerate for 20 years. He took care of the conglomerate family and was given a lofty title, Senior Manager, Future Asset Management. However, his work was similar to that of a low ranking servant/butler (which included the fixing of wc covers) and was ill-treated: struck by a golfstick, having tea poured over him. His 3 golden rules: 1) Never reject orders by the conglomerate family 2) Never ask questions 3) Never make his own judgement. However, he is falsely accused of embezzlement. He was then shot while on a business trip to Turkey to retrieve USD600 mil worth of slush fund under the paper company, SY Micro and thrown off a cliff into the sea. The next moment, Hyeon-Wu found himself in the body of the family's youngest grandson, 10 year old Jin Do-Jun in 1987. He wanted to know who shot him and why he was shot. He decided to take revenge on the SY family and also take over the group. The drama is interesting because 1) Actual major events in history were weaved into the plot, eg. IMF Korean Crisis, 9/11 World Trade Center, 2002 World Cup, etc. Since Hyeon-Wu went back in time, he made good use of upcoming events then to make strategic decisions. 2) Jin Do Jun was able to rebut, overturn, counter and sabotage the schemes and attempts to discredit, overthrow and destroy him by his cousins, uncles, aunties, even grandparents in each episode, and emerged victorious. For e.g., - epi 13, he was fraudulently deprived of his inheritance in his grandfather's will. He recovered the 17% share of SY Insurance from his grandmother by threatening to reveal her role in ordering the accident attempt to kill her husband and Do Jun. - epi 14, he was set up and deprived of his post as CEO of SY Financial Holding company. It was a blessing in disguise. Later, the government gave in to the public outcry not to allow the formation of finance companies by conglomerates to avoid hefty inheritance taxes. - epi 14, he sold SY Card to his 2nd uncle, Dong Ki in a timely manner at a very high price, and Dong Ki suffered from the downturn in the economy. SY Card was greatly affected. In his capacity as COO of Miracle Investment (MI), Do Jun suggested a debt workout, thereby saving the debtors, and restored the share value of 2 card companies ie SY and Daeyang. - epi 15, he was framed and arrested as a suspect of building a slush fund by the Prosecution Service but the situation was overturned, and he was released. 3) It was quite farfetched that Prosecutor Seo Min Young managed to save Hyeon-Wu from death. Although only 1 week had passed from the time he was shot to his rescue and recovery in hospital, Hyeon-Wu lived as Do Jun for 17 years. It seemed like a dream. 4) Hyeon-Wu was looked down on and mistreated by his bosses and staff because he didn't have a university degree due to poverty. That's why, when he lived as Do Jun, he ensured he graduated from university with top honours. 5) Satisfactory ending: - Hyeon-Wu contacted Do Jun's former partner, Oh Se Hyeon to resume MI's activities with an aim to take over SY management rights. - the revelation of the real mastermind behind Do Jun's death, ie. Jin Yoong Ki, the father of Seong Jun who used the excuse to take over the management rights from his son and became the SY Chairman. - the SY family had to give up their shares, positions, and management rights. Hyeon-Wu's analysis of his life as Do Jun: it was his act of repentance as he was the accomplice for Do Jun's death and was finally to able to help fulfill Do Jun's desire to takeover the SY Group.
