I've seen them all. I've read them all. Been fascinated by the story of Merlin and Arthur since I was a young child. This is by no means the best or the most imaginative.
READ ON!!!!
I do like this version...it has potential. I truly love the idea of the fay, and the fact that Arthur has become their champion because of his love for his martyred (maybe) fay girl. However i think the fay far too underdeveloped. They need more depth. More species. Anyway...that is not the important point I want to make.
As I've already said, I have seen EVERY screen version of this story. EVRY ONE. And if you think that Lord if the Rings was not among them, you are wrong. If you think Gandalf was not merlin and Aaragorn not Arthur, you're a fool. Lol
Anyway, I just want to say that so Skarsgards portrayal is thus far my FAVORITE Merlin. Sir Ian McClellan has nothing on him. I love this guy. Never seen him before, but this series better continue past this first season just for that character. I actually choked up when he lost grip with Nimue, losing her to the river below, and in his pain and grief, finally picked up his sword again. Omg was that a powerful performance.
Bravo Gustaf...bravo
