Let me begin by saying I will probably always watch a TP Production because I love everything about this man! I’m just on the fence with this movie... I truly wanted to like/enjoy it; however I think I’ve been too caught up in Tika’s role as Candace on the Have’s/Have Nots. As an actress you have to be truly talented to allow your audience to forget about your previous roles (i.e., Taraji), and I just couldn’t/didn’t buy the comedic Tika as much as I did the No Nonsense Tika/Candace. The movie was quite predictable and tinkered on the verge of trying too hard to be funny. The comedy at times wasn’t organic, but forced. (SN: I also absolutely hated Tika’s drunken love hair style, but great job covering the baby bump until the skirt with the bodacious bow!) Omari’s character was borderline gay! I get showing a man’s sensitive side but he was so sweet the entire audience needed a shot of insulin. No time serving brother is going to put up with a wayward chick! Whoopi’s character was probably the best act in the entire movie... A complete natural! Now on to Tiffany/Tanya... typical but acceptable and akin to eating leftover lasagna... you’ll eat it because it’s there. Another gem in the movie was Amber Riley’s character; she put the movie in perspective with her down to earth acting, and we all could relate to having that friend that’s always trying to help, but talks too much! Truly found Mehcad’s character useless & unbelievable, although the mother reference after thigh sex was uncomfortably funny. They could have saved a check & simply left him out completely! I get the whole online dating angle, but after a year of talking to anyone you would have known he was a narcissistic sociopath! Chris Rock’s character was as if they resurrected Pookie from New Jack City & put him in a wheelchair and trailer park... SMH! All in all the movie just seems rushed! Not a must see, but definitely a time killer. Good job releasing this movie when nothing else is out, so we’ll go see it because we like left over lasagna. Call me Tyler... I may have the perfect game changing script for you ; )
