Rarely does a movie compel me to write a review, much less so one based on a comic superhero, but for those dithering over whether to see this film : just do! This is no tired reboot of a movie trope we've seen a dozen times before. Superman manages to deliver an original and thrilling action film while at the same time perfectly capturing the zeitgeist of they world we live in in 2025. There are many respectful nods to the original material as well as several subtle and not so subtle nods to many of the real dangers we face today: billionaire tech bros influencing governments, technologically advanced nations invading their poorer neighbours, obsession with selfie culture and our willingness to accept unquestioningly what's on TV or the Internet. It's all there and yet none of it gets in the way of enjoying a big action movie. The special effects are dazzling and the plot is peppered with humour in just the right places. Ay the end of it you're left feeling like you've just stepped off a thrill ride rearing to go again! 5/5
