I absolutely loved the complete saga. So I came into this expecting a remaster. Instead I got a remake, but unfortunately this isn’t necessarily a good thing.
The gameplay in the skywalker saga consists of walking from one waypoint to the next, and occasionally escorting an NPC who walks as slowly as the game engine will allow across a giant mostly empty environment.
There are plenty of little side missions, but the main meat of the game has been reduced to cut scenes, and if you don’t explore the levels outside of the main story, you can beat the game ridiculously fast.
The problem is that exploring is the least fun part of this game. There is no more parkour, the puzzles have been regelated to pressing A in front of a terminal and doing a 10 second quick time event, and there are virtually no roaming enemies.
Overall, a real let down. The combat is flashy, but ultimately no more fun than the satisfying one hit kills from the original game. Everything here is polished and beautiful, but lacks depth and feels very, very rushed.
