Anne Perry has always been one of my favorite writers. Her ability to BE in a different time and to communicate that is amazing and carries every book she has written. The Elena Standish novels are no exception and, in this one, she does not trivialize the issues she raises.

I think Jackson and the cast did a great job in their various roles. The story was a window to an earlier, more overtly racist time. Some of it was hard to watch but worth it.
