I was transported to Florence and back to London through 4 decades in the lives of Winman’s personnages: Ulysses, Cressy, Alys, Massimo, Peg, Pete, Col and, of course, Evelyn. This is a faction novel and runs the gamut between happiness, sadness and humour. Do read it.
