I took my niece and nephew to see Frozen II this evening. I thought for a sequel of a blockbuster hit, it had a lot to live up to- something usually very hard when continuing storylines. Frozen II had some incredible effects, but beyond the music and the colors, I was much more impressed with the storyline, which had such depth for a Disney film. Death and revelations of past deception and terrible acts are themes we come across, but with that dark moments comes maturity, strength and realness. I think that’s what’s so important for this film... audiences (kids) are not just getting a fairytale, they get to see the bigger picture and how the characters grow, just as they will themselves. I don’t think the mass audiences will appreciate this film as much as the first, but I thought it was 🔥 💨 💦 🌎! My 7 year old nephew said it was a really good film and he didn’t want to leave the theatre during the show because it was that good. He did mention it was kind of sad at times. My toddler niece was quiet the whole time, though she did jump around during the exciting parts.
