It’s really a wholesome drama. Despite it being 56 episodes long, which seemed like a bit long for me. But to be honest it was perfect. From the cast to their heartfelt acting, especially the two main leads. Wu Lei and Zhao Lusi really delivered their parts so so well. Does seem like they are one with their characters. Love love love the motherly love the Empress Xian bestowed upon Cheng ShaoShang. The love we missed out on her first 15 years of her life. The feeling of someone placing their trust in her and her feeling grateful for having just one person to do that for her. Boy I really cried my heart out. The love the Empress Xuan envied but couldn’t have in this lifetime. The way Zisheng looked at Shao Shang with so much love and concern. Love he didn’t get yet he was able to shower her with so much love is so so endearing for me. The way shao shang was ever so ready to throw all caution to the win and ventured out to save her whole family who landed in prison due to her dad being framed. The love in this drama as a whole is so endearing. Friendship, loyalty, sacrifice, regret, brotherhood, sisterhood, motherly love, family love, just being human and just knowing your place. This is such an tearjerking drama I won’t forget. So much take home message from just one drama. I’m having withdrawal symptoms alr. All in all, the script, acting and dialogue all we so in place and apt.
