To anyone who's ever lived with an overwhelming dog, that they nonetheless loved with all their heart… this is a great movie. I can't personally speak to the military aspects of the film but from all I've read and seen in friends this seems about right. The deep struggle of two (ex) warriors trying to assimilate to normal life (or not) and live with the remnants of their physical battles and their PTSD without imploding... learning to connect again, to anything. Also, the first few minrrutes of the "I Love Me book" (as I think it's called), is something I could watch over and over. It's also just a very fun road trip movie with lots of marvelous littke moments and a great sound track.
I'm not sure how I feel about using dogs in battle, or police work but there's no mistaking the devotion and courage and joy with which these dogs serve - and their very real and special value to the men and women with whom they serve.
