Not good .. poorly scripted, characters hardly suspenseful, meant to be serious but unintentionally funny in parts, not even a farce in the true French style of farce and definitely not a thriller. I wondered why I sat through it.

Well, I did not enjoy this film. It was really bad. I found it too sanitised and lacking in authenticity (the filming - sets, clothing, acting). What would those times have been really like? Came across as a mixture of Heidi and The Sound of Music with the Butcher of Lyon thrown in. Failed to do justice to Marcel Marceau. The lead actor? .. nah! Read the NYT review .. it's illuminating.
