I get a charge out of reading this book. Clear and brilliant. Having seen Daniel Dennett lecture (video) I can hear his voice when I read. He seems to be smiling.

A great fictional representation of how we regulate each other's emotions and reality. Allows for a horror movie to be experienced in a detached way by exaggerating unfamiliar cultural practices. Plays on and expands on the strain people experience when encountering an unfamiliar culture. Gore for the gore lovers too!

Wow! Claire Denis is a masterful director. I was riveted. Oh my! Juliette Binoche fans enjoy. Oh boy! Robert Pattinson fans enjoy. Great cast. To me it was a metaphor for life and eventual death: we're propelled into a life not of our choosing and have to struggle throughout and face death as best we can. This is for you if you like movies that aren't afraid to be slow for a purpose. I feel you have to let go and trust the director. This movie carries you in it's arms if you let it.
