At the far end of my 50's I found a richness and a realness in Gerwig's adaptation of Little Women that moved me deeply; especially her characterization of Marmee and the elder Mr. Laurence. Less sweetness and moralizing than in the novel or other movie adaptations; more emotionally powerful.
