Incredibly disappointing, heavily overshadowed by its predecessor.
I have only the first episode to base this review off of, though that may change.
That being said, when one of the very first spoken lines of the entire series was something along the lines of “I’m having the dreams again,” I had a feeling the show was going to fall flat.
Apart from one parkour scene taking place over a cool set piece, the entire episode felt cheap. The dialogue was uninspired, the Twi’lek felt way too human, and the action was astoundingly uninteresting, with at one point what could have been a full 20 seconds of Boba Fett just hitting things with his wrists.
If the episode has any merit, it would be Boba Fett’s time spent with the sand people. Temuera put all his energy into scenes where he was shown at the mercy of the sand people, and it felt as if I was able to feel Boba Fett’s suffering on the Tatooine plains through the screen. The sand people scenes also showcased his strength and spirit far more effectively than the spaceport scenes did.
Overall, with the budget of Disney, the footsteps of The Mandalorian, one of the coolest characters in all of cinema and the entire Star Wars universe behind it, Book of Boba Fett was a resounding disappointment.
