I loved this book. I enjoyed it as a page turner because it was a story worth telling and told with words, expressions and symbolism that that commanded my attention and admiration for the author’s ability to weave it. I found myself captivated by the quality of his writing and found the lives of the characters compelling. I could feel their pain, anger and love. So much more. I have read Collum McCann before and hope I will again soon. But this Middle Eastern focus taught me a lot about the complexities of these times and places that were not as clear to me as I thought they were from past experience, reading and hearing news.
