Well, just like most of you, I didn’t buy Spare and I’m glad of it.
Yeesh, what on earth happened with this book?
Did all the ghost writers and proof readers suddenly all go on strike?
Did the publishers resort to some cheap version of AI with no fact-check component in it?
Who knows, it’s a mess and a trial to read.
Yes, we all have family and workplace dynamics that are at times extremely challenging
And like many people, Harry is stuck in the past, but hey, there’s help for that.
He has also led himself to believe that everyone is out to get him, all the time. An ongoing tedious
theme throughout the book, stopped only by him adopting a 6 year old’s,
”I don’t like it and I’m going to run away” tanti. And he takes that one to a whole new level.
Hey, who doesn’t want African holidays when things get a bit uncomfortable?
Not too a bad if you can afford it.
The Acknowledgement pages of the book are very telling. There are two pages of thanks to
professional bodies, family, friends etc. it goes on and on. And, the very last line in the book,
yes, a thank you to the readers. Well, that certainly lets us know just where we all stand.
So, anyone rushing out to buy the next book? Spare yourselves.
