This was a pretty good movie. So why am I giving it a 1 star rating? I'm doing that so all the overprotective parents will see this.
First of all, why are you all complaining that it's not child friendly? The movie is rated PG, and the top left corner where they say why it has its rating says, "thematic material, suggestive content, and language". If you don't want your child seeing this, then don't show them this movie.
I've also seen people saying things like puberty (more specifically, periods) is inappropriate and shouldn't be shown in this movie. PERIODS ARE NORMAL. They are not inappropriate, they're just things that happen to AFAB people. It's fine if you don't want your child learning about this stuff, just don't blame me when your kid freaks out and thinks they're dying because of something natural that's happening to them.
Also, people in the reviews are complaining about the sexual content. Like I said before, if you read the content warning in that little top left corner, you would know what to expect. Plus, puberty makes a lot of people have those kind of thoughts. I'm pretty sure many of the people in the reviews know what this is like, so why are you making such a big deal out of it?
People are also saying that the movie is cringe and bad and shouldn't be watched because of that. Mei and her friends are 13 year olds. 13 year old people do weird and cringy things. What the heck, I bet pretty much every single one of you have done things that you're seriously regretting back when you were a teenager.
One more thing: I've seen a lot of people on the internet complaining about the animation. So what if it's a new style that you're not used to? Why do you have to hate it so much? It's just some change, why should it impact the entire movie?
In my opinion, this was a pretty good movie. There's some stuff that I wasn't a huge fan of, but other than that, it was funny and I liked it a lot.
