First off, Jane Austen this is not. This is entertainment, not a docuseries on Regency England people, sheesh! Second, it was alright. Having read the books I probably had too high of expectations, especially after seeing what Starz did for Outlander, but it seemed to be missing the “life” of the books. Where was the humor and charm? Obviously storyline changes have to be made to make flow onscreen better but did they really have to fundamentally alter one of the secondary characters, Mrs. Featherington by making her a villain of sorts? Also, I felt more chemistry between Anthony and his mistress than Daphne and Simon. If you haven’t read the books, this is a good series! Lastly, if you have, just keep an open mind...overall not terrible, beautiful costumes and well cast, but I expected the show to at least have the life of the Bridgerton books 😕 Fell very flat there for me.
