I got to see this at a secret screening before it was approved for release by Warner. Not a fan of superhero culture at all and I almost left when I realized what this was the secret screening. But I kept laughing so I kept staying.
Sure, the film is deep and has a richly drawn, unsentimental, self acceptance story. But most importantly, it's super funny. Dark, absurd, non-stop jokes that all land.
(Note: this super indie film uses several sequences of crowdsourced animation so that may not be for you, but apparently the filmmaker is an editor, so it's all coheres quite nicely and even adds to some of the humor)
