i really enjoyed the film. Amanda Seyfried has always been one of my favorite actresses. She really becomes the character. While watching the film, Amanda made me feel what her character was feeling, the fear, anxiety, anger, etc. She encompassed the entire character extremely well.
The movie highlighted some important issues like mental illness and the stigma around those who have suffered from one and how people, specifically the police, perceive those with a mental illness. Additionally, the movie demonstrated how corrupt or unhelpful the police can be. With some of the officers having blame the victim mentality which is a sad reality of how the police can be.
spoiler warning!!
I don’t understand why Rotten Tomatoes rated it so low. I would say one of the scenes that I didn’t quite like as much was near the end when Amanda’s character was fighting with her kidnapper in the hole. The fighting scene wasn’t very long or planned and I feel like if a kidnapper was humiliated and angry about her getting away, he would have been more prepared and the fight would have been more anxiety ridden and suspenseful.
