Slight Spoilers
I enjoyed watching this, ever since I heard about the sequel, I’ve been excited to see what direction they would take. The movie was very nostalgic. When the first one came out, I was around Riley’s age so it felt nostalgic going to see the second.
At first it seemed like the story might be too similar to the first but I quickly realized that was not the case. It was fresh and new and very enjoyable. I liked that they decided to focus on Riley becoming a teen and all the struggles of fitting in and managing very new feelings and emotions. The new voice acting for fear and disgust wasn’t even noticeable. I wouldn’t even know if no one had said anything. And the voice acting for the new emotions was very fun.
I am a little sad that there was less of the parents but it also shows how the roles of the parents go down in high school. It was completely set at the hockey camp which was a nice new setting compared to Riley’s house in the first.
I loved the messages of not needing to be 100% all of the time but also recognizing the good in yourself and also the message about not letting your emotions control you and about sometimes even choosing how you want to feel. It was also cool seeing Anger comfort Joy and feel joy and for Joy to feel anger. Heartfelt scenes that made me cry. I think this lives up to being a sequel.
