This was good!
A fun story with darker tones. More gritty and violent, jarringly so at times, which did well to underscore the division between the dual personalities of Marc Spector and Steven Grant. Mr. Isaac was great fun to watch as he slipped back and forth between characters and he brought a hard level of physicality to the fight scenes.
F. Murray Abraham delivered his lines with the perfect level or small-minded pomp and arrogance as befitting of a small god in a larger divine world.
Ethan Hawke was suitably disturbing, reasonable, and menacing in his honest and forthright delivery of the character, Arthur Harrow. He puts his case forward for the release of a terrible deity as being the mandatory lesser evil to combat the greater evils of man. Demonstrating the usual ability of devout men and women to take their faith too far.
The feel the only downside of the entire show was Ms. Calamawy's line delivery, which seemed to slip from arabic accented, to american english, to an irish lilt from scene to scene. While I enjoyed her character and its portrayal (and THAT super-suit reveal with the wings! Oh hell yeah!) I found her inability to lock down her accent/voice to be disconcerting and enough to break me out of a thoroughly enjoyable show.
4.5 stars and I hope to see the characters again very soon!
