I've been a Maiden fan since my cousin in NZ played me Live after Death on cassette in a Ford Cortina stereo. I lost interest for a while when Blaze Bailey came onto the scene.. Bruce's first expose tooling around with his solo career. When Book of Souls was released I was back.. and if that wasn't enough the release of Senjitsu had me singing Maiden's praises once again as the best metal band ever.
So... to Bruce's solo career... Bruce is so busy trying so hard... that he never really lands anything meaningful.
He's a pilot he's an astronaut he's got his own hot sauce (probably) ... and he's the metal messiah... except without Steve Harris the wordsmith and real genius behind Maiden... he's just that bloke from school that you met at the the school reunion, still wearing leather pants and sporting his earring.
The Mandrake Project is pants. I gave it 2 stars because I reckon Face in the Mirror would be a good song.. if it was an accoustic piece in the middle of a regular Maiden concert.. maybe after The Clairvoyant.
Other than that.. it's just a mess. If you don't agree.. go listen to Senjitsu or Book of Souls or <insert fav Maiden album here> and you'll see what I mean.
