House represents everything that everyone wants to be deep inside while in reality often cannot. The difference is some people love him for it, and some hate.
Wilson and Cuddy together represent everything that the society wants us to / teaches us that we should be while in reality we all carry a few from either one or both of them. Or we try to get as close as we can.
What really touches me about the show is that how the socially appropriate version (Wilson and Cuddy) is unconditionally supportive to the version (House) that one truly wants to be. While in reality, it is often the other way around - "the want" usually compromises for "the should". Everything else just comes and goes.
