It was decent but the majority of the book could have been cut out. There was an investigation at the beginning of a murder that the book was named after that never went anywhere that could have made the book better. the small confrontation with an ancient vampire was well done so it leaves someone powerful who in future books will be showing up to mess with them. I also thought that leaving the fact that the government is using magic to make vampires lose control out of the rest of the book was kind of weird. You would think that would be one thing she would mention to everyone. I guess if all the useless conversations with Ru and Rodina were cut out and all the useless conversations about relationships pretty much saying the same thing in different ways over and over again they could have gotten to it. If those things had taken up a couple of chapters instead of the majority of the book it could have been a great book but as is it's just ok
