Having heard stories of the Ramayana from my mother since childhood and witnessing my grandmother writing Sri Rama's name countless times, it became evident to us that the Ramayana was more than just a story. It was a source of moral guidance, teaching us how to lead a righteous life. This movie, however, felt like a direct insult to our deeply held beliefs. It seems like the makers intended for the film to turn out poorly, for reasons unknown. The costumes were gaudy, the lighting was dark, and there were adaptations taken from every major Hollywood productions. I wish that Bollywood would stick to making dance numbers and action-packed macho police films. I sincerely hope that someone will come up with a better version, but I can only hope for that from Hollywood or South Indian cinema directors.
