I just watched the host of the show and a marine biologist write all over a young turtle's shell with bright white reflective paint right before releasing it into the ocean. It probably was in the ocean for half an hour before it was spotted and eaten.
A sea turtle's shell has specific colors an patterns that help to camouflage it on sand, rocks, and the ocean floor. It helps them to evade predators. The "marine biologist" should know that!!
What is concerning as well is that this "rescue" where the show was based said they have released around 132 turtles. So, basically, they released 132 (as of the date of the show) into the wild with no more camouflage. Kind of convenient that the turtle "rescue" facility is also located on a resort property.
Very disappointed in the show (sponsored by the Georgia aquarium)
